Dale W. Bratzler, DO, MPH
Business of Medicine: Volume to Value
Dr. Bratzler is a graduate of the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Tulsa Regional Medical Center and earned his MPH at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. Bratzler is a Professor of Health Administration and Policy and Associate Dean in the College of Public Health, and a Professor in the College of Medicine at the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center where he also serves as the Chief Quality Officer for the OU Physicians Group. He is a Senior Policy Advisor to the Office of the Associate Director of Policy in the Office of the Director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Bratzler served twice as the President of the American Health Quality Association, is a past member of the National Advisory Council for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and a recent member of the Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Cory L. Gamble, DO
Diabetes Update 2015
Dr. Gamble is a graduate of the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at OSU Medical Center followed by an endocrinology, metabolism and hypertension fellowship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Dr. Gamble practiced in the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Cooper Clinic in Fort Smith Arkansas until 2008 when he joined the Diabetes Field Medical Affairs office of Novo Nordisk as Medical Scientific Director. He currently serves at Novo as Medical Director for Victoza.
Chelsey D. Gilbertson, DO
Bedside Ultrasound in Critical Care
Dr. Gilbertson earned her medical degree from the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and her MBA from the University of Tennessee. She completed her post-graduate training in emergency medicine at Integris Southwest Medical Center where she now practices with Team Health. Dr. Gilbertson is Assistant Medical Director for Medical Education for Integris Health and also serves as Fellowship Director for the Family Medicine Fellowship in Emergency Medicine. She is Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at OSU-CHS and the Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Director for the Integris Southwest Medical Center Emergency Medicine Residency.
Richard K. Gilroy, MD
Hepatitis C: An Opportunity for Cure
Dr. Gilroy is a graduate of the University of Queensland Medical School. He completed his residency in internal medicine followed by a gastroenterology fellowship at the Queensland Health Princess Alexandra Hospital. He also took a post-graduate fellowship in transplant hepatology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where he later served as Assistant Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of Intestinal Failure. Dr. Gilroy currently serves as Professor of Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City where he is also the Medical Director of Liver Transplantation.
Leslie M. Hamlett, DO

Dr. Hamlett is a graduate of A.T. Still University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the Oklahoma State University Medical Center followed by fellowship in nephrology at the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center. Dr. Hamlett is a practicing nephrologist with Freeman Nephrology and Dialysis in Joplin, Missouri and Heartland Kidney Physicians in Carthage, Missouri.
Kendal L. Hervert, DO, FCCP

Dr. Hervert completed her medical training at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine – Bradenton Campus. Her residency in Internal Medicine was served at Oklahoma State University Medical Center followed by a pulmonary medicine fellowship at the OSUMC Center for Respiratory Medicine. She holds board certification from the AOBIM in both internal medicine and pulmonary disease. Currently, Dr. Hervert practices pulmonology at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America Southwest Regional Medical Center where she cares for patients with complex and late stage cancers and is actively involved in research.
Jeffrey M. Hunt, DO, FACOI

Dr. Hunt is a graduate of the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at OSU Medical Center followed by a gastroenterology fellowship at OSUMC and Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Dr. Hunt is a practicing gastroenterologist with Gastroenterology United of Tulsa. He is actively involved in clinical research and currently is Principal Investigator of three multicenter studies related to Crohn’s and Colitis.
Arash Karnama, DO, FACC

Dr. Karnama is a graduate of Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA. before relocating to Tulsa for his Clinical and Interventional Cardiology Fellowships at Oklahoma State University Medical Center where he served as Chief Fellow. Dr. Karnama practices interventional cardiology at the Oklahoma Heart Institute in Tulsa and serves as an attending cardiologist to the Oklahoma State University Medical Center fellowship training program. Dr. Karnama holds board certifications in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular computed tomography, and nuclear cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
Madhuri J. Lad, DO, FACOI

Dr. Lad is a graduate of the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her post-graduate training in the internal medicine residency program at Oklahoma State University Medical Center. Dr. Lad currently serves as clinical assistant professor of medicine at the OSU Center for Health Sciences and as a faculty member of the OSUMC medicine residency.
Timothy W. McNichol, Esq
OGME-IOM-ACGME: What does it all mean?
Tim McNichol currently serves as the Deputy Executive Director for the American College of Osteopathic Internists. Prior to joining the ACOI in 2006, he served as the senior congressional lobbyist for the American Osteopathic Association where he was responsible for issues such as Medicaid, Medicare, patient safety, medical liability reform and health information technology, among other areas. While at the ACOI, Tim has continued to focus on these and other issues including health system reform and graduate medical education. Tim was first introduced to health policy at the state level when he worked for a state senator. He parlayed his state experiences into a position with a U.S. Congressman where he served as a health care legislative assistant in Washington, DC. Tim now applies his broad legislative and regulatory policy experiences and knowledge to issues that impact osteopathic students, residents and physicians.
Matthew D. Miller, DO

Dr. Miller is a graduate of the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at the OSU Medical Center. He served his fellowship in hematology/oncology at the St. Louis University Hospital. Dr. Miller currently practices oncology at the Freeman Health Center Cancer Institute in Joplin, Missouri where he also serves as medical director.
Daniel G. Morris, DO

Dr. Morris is a graduate of the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine. Following internship at Enid Memorial Hospital he continued his training in the US Air Force. He eventually returned to OSU Medical Center to complete a residency in Anesthesiology followed by a Fellowship in Pain Management at the Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Morris was the founding program director of OSU Medical Center’s pain management fellowship and currently is in private practice with Precision Pain Management in Tulsa.
Keith A. Reich, DO, FACOI

Dr. Reich is a graduate of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship at Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital before pursuing residency in internal medicine at the Kennedy Memorial Hospitals of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He served his fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and Saint Vincent Hospital. Dr. Reich is Assistant Professor of Medicine at Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and Program Director of the Rheumatology Fellowship at St. James Franciscan Alliance. He is Chair of Rheumatology at the Franciscan Medical Specialists. In addition to his AOBIM certifications in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, Dr. Reich is certified by the American College of Rheumatology in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound.
Craig W. Spellman, DO

Craig W. Spellman is Professor of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, at Texas Tech University of Health Science and Director of the MCH Diabetes Center at Medical Center Hospital, Odessa, Texas. Dr. Spellman received his PhD in Pathology from the University Utah School of Medicine in 1975 and for 10 years was Assistant Professor of Pathology and Cell Biology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the Texas College Osteopathic Medicine in 1991, is board certified in Internal Medicine and trained in diabetes and endocrinology at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. Dr. Spellman was the Chair of Endocrinology at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Fort Worth, Texas, from 1997-2007 and served as the Regional Associate Dean for Research at Texas Tech from 2007-2014. Dr. Spellman’s clinical research focuses on prevention and delay of diabetes and development of computer-assisted decision making programs for metabolic control in critically ill patients. His current basic research focuses on mechanisms of insulin resistance, androgens and the inflammatory cytokines. He is Chairman of the subcommittees of the Texas Diabetes Council and program leader for Prevention and Delay of Diabetes Complications in Region 14 of West Texas.
Jeffrey S. Stroup, PharmD, FCCP, BCPS

Dr. Stroup is a graduate of the Albany College of Pharmacy where he also completed his post-graduate training in Endocrinology/Adult Medicine through the Department of Pharmacy Practice. He serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pharmacy for the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy and Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Dr. Stroup was founding program director for the PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at OSU Medical Center. Dr. Stroup holds the rank of Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the OSU Center for Health Sciences and is currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer at OSU Medical Center.
Anna Wanahita, MD
Stroke Guidelines: A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Waste
Dr. Wanahita is a graduate of the Catholic University of Indonesia. She completed her post-graduate research fellowship in the Infectious Disease Section of the Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. She continued her post-graduate training with a residency in neurology and a stroke mini-fellowship, both at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr. Wanahita, who is board certified in neurology, serves as Director of the St. John Health System Stroke Program and Co-medical Director of the St. John Heyman Comprehensive Stroke Center, the first and only Joint Commission certified comprehensive stroke center in northeastern Oklahoma.
